IMPLEMENTATION OF GALILEO AND COPERNICUS IN OPEN-SOURCE SMARTPHONE APP FOR MULTIPLE MARKET SECTORS

Space technologies and EU space programmes Galileo and Copernicus contribute to the European Union’s objectives in multiple strategic sectors.
On this basis, EUSPA (European Union Agency for the Space Programme) supported the development of open-source mobile apps to ease and enhance the use of EGNSS differentiators (Galileo multi-frequency capability, Galileo Authentication Service – OSNMA, EGNOS/EDAS, Galileo High Accuracy Service – HAS) and Copernicus Sentinel data and services, to serve multiple domains.
To this end, three smartphone apps have been created: EGNNSS4CAP, EGNSS4ALL and SEN4ALL.
EGNSS4CAP is an open-source Android and iOS application using GNSS raw measurements and EGNSS differentiators (Galileo dual-frequency) for agriculture government controls. EGNSS4CAP deploys EGNSS in the digitalization procedures for EU farmers to satisfy their reporting requirements, implementing some features of Galileo.
EGNSS4ALL, as well as an open-source Android and iOS application, is meant to widen EGNSS4CAP area of use beyond the CAP (e.g., logistics, urban planning, emergency services, insurance, etc.) and to include new Galileo features for end users. In fact, EGNSS4ALL is an open-source Android and iOS software offering robust and authenticated geotagging and mapping.
SEN4ALL open-source Android and iOS application, thanks to Copernicus Sentinels 1, 2, 3 and 5, offers easily accessible information on land, water and air monitoring, namely providing maps of crop status, water and air quality, vegetation status and data for urban monitoring and planning.
